we're opening up a large section of ziguezague “zero” to visual contributions on the theme of tourism. ziguezague will be arte menor's aperiodic visual journal, and also its only incursion into bound material and print runs. we want it to be as visual as possible, with the least practicable amount of text outside of titles and referencing, or words already contained by or making up the artworks.

the opening issue, focusing on tourism, is due late 2027. we're looking for visual works that parse the tourism vortex and the profound social, political and environmental changes it produces: from the transformation of city centres into ‘objects of trade’; to the accelerating commodification of housing stocks; to touristification as syndrome and symptom; to monocultural inspissation and crystallisation; to economic dependency, 'zombiefication', corporatisation and beyond. works can be submitted in any format that translates well to the printed page (illustration, photography, schemas, reproductions of 3d work, mixed visual documentations, etc), as series or single objects. there's no specific format or thematic boundary, other than a visual stratum and an 'incantation' of tourism, which can be blunt and direct, mediated and indirect, or even implemented through some form of negation or absence - like an exploration of tourism-free places or a contrasting mirror-image.

late 2027 is the time we've set for publishing, but this can be brought forward or pushed back depending on what critical mass we've acquired a few months in advance.

we're paying open call contributors a small fee.
